HBHS has two new National Athletics title-winners after the New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Meet this past weekend, and a new New Zealand record as well.   Isaiah Priddey was named as the Junior Boy Athlete of the Meet on the back of two gold medal winning runs in the Junior 1500m and the Junior 3000m.  His winning time of 3:57.19 in the 1500m is now the new National record in this event.  Our other gold medal winner was Tyler Wood who won the Junior High Jump.  Christopher Goodwin won a silver medal in the Senior Long Jump and a bronze in the Senior High Jump.  Blair Pennell also won silver in the Open 2000m Steeplechase, as did Connor Tristram in the Junior 4km Road Race.  Other results of note were Jayden Gozdz who finished 5th in the Junior Javelin, and Samuel Montgomerie who finished 6th in the Junior 1500m and Junior 3000m.  Isaac Milne finished 6th in the Open 300m Hurdles, Connor Tristram finished 7th in the Junior 1500m and Blair Pennell finished 8th in the Senior 800m, as did the Junior Boys 4 x 100m Relay team.  Congratulations to the team on this excellent collection of results, and thanks and congratulations to Teacher in Charge of Athletics, Mr Rodney de Klerk.
