Parents' Association Student Support
International Events Fund
From time to time, the HBHS Parents' Association will consider providing support for one or more HBHS students to attend an international event which is consistent with the areas of activity for the PA. This includes a focus on: students as citizens in the international community; programmes to assist others; learning about and responding to environmental issues.

In 2014 the PA supported Iain Miller's attendance to THIMUN 2014, the premier annual international conference in which UN Youth participates.
THIMUN is hosted annually in The Hague, with 3,500 students from all over the world taking part in a week-long Model UN in which each delegation represents the views of another country. The conference provides participants with an unparalleled opportunity to engage with like-minded students from around the world, to develop their debating and negotiation skills, and to deepen their knowledge of UN systems.

The HBHS Parents’ Association has recently gifted Brent Coleman and Scott Cameron $500 toward their attendance at the International Geography Olympiad, in Cologne, Germany, in August 2012.
“It’s an outstanding opportunity for these two Year 13 students – in fact the whole school will benefit from their experience in some way”, explains Stan Goldsack, PA Chairman. “To have 2 of the 4 New Zealand team members from our school is a great achievement, and the Parents’ Association was happy to respond positively to their request for assistance.”
