HBHS Cell Phone Use
Students are discouraged from bringing cell phones to school.
However, if students choose to bring a cell phone to school, it must be switched to 'silent' and kept in their school bag during Tutor Group and class time.
At the discretion of the teacher, students may be allowed to access their phone in class for a defined period of time, to assist with their learning.
Students may use their cell phone during breaks and before/after school.
Students breaching this policy will be dealt with as per the following behavioural guidelines:
- Faculty detention for breaches during class and tutor group time. (including when lining up for class or tutor group)
Mobile phones will not be confiscated except in circumstances where a member of staff considers the device to be a harmful or disruptive influence.
Inappropriate use of a cell phone will be dealt with under the schools Digital Technologies Student User agreement.
Please note, if students do make the decision to bring a cell phone to school, they do so at their own risk. Hamilton Boys' High School is not responsible for any loss or damage caused to any cell phone.
If you need to contact your son during the day; In an emergency, parents should contact the Student Services Centre, who will quickly convey a message to students. Students falling ill during the day must report to the health centre, who will contact parents.
