Hamilton High School Centennial March 2011

The Centennial of Hamilton High School (encompassing Hamilton Girls’ and Hamilton Boys’ High Schools) is expected to attract thousands of people to Hamilton in March 2011.

Spokesperson of the Centennial publicity committee Bobbie Jarvis said the Reunion is already attracting a huge amount of interest and will be a major and exciting event for Hamilton City.

The Reunion celebrations have been designed for young and old and will comprise a four day weekend of events to commemorate this momentous occasion in Hamilton’s history. The Reunion will be held on March 17, 18, 19 and 20.

“It will be a very historic and important occasion not only for past and present pupils and teachers of the three schools, but also for the entire Hamilton City,” said Jarvis.

Some of the events planned will include a Friday night Mix-n-Mingle party, tours of the school, launch of the school history centennial book and cookbook, celebratory lunches for the dux of schools over the years, head prefects and New Zealand sporting representatives.

In addition, a major concert involving former and current pupils, photo sessions with classmates, an art exhibition, a fashion parade, Saturday night cocktail party and Sunday church service are also planned.

Hamilton High School opened in July 1911 as a co-ed High School and separated into Hamilton Girls’ High School and Hamilton Boys’ High School in 1955. The current Girls’ High School stands on the very ground that was once co-ed, while Hamilton Boys’ moved to Peachgrove Road in Hamilton East.

Those interested in taking part in the festivities are invited to pre-register on the official website www.hamiltonhighcentennial2011.com or phone 0900 SCHOOL to make a $20 donation towards the cost of holding the reunion.

Field Days Leave

June 08, 2010

FIELD-DAYS LEAVE
Dear Parents,
Our school policy relating to Field-Days is that we give leave for students to attend on Friday 18 June only. This policy allows us to minimise disruption caused by student absences.

Only students who provide a signed note from parents will be given permission to be absent for that day.

The school will remain open and classes operate for all students.

We appreciate your support in allowing us to maintain an academic programme during a very busy week in the Waikato.
