Huge congratulations to our Chess team on winning HBHS's first medal at Nationals for at least 8 years. Macleans College took out the gold, and beat our team 3 - 1, Auckland Grammar finished second and a solitary point ahead of us, with the match between the teams finishing as a draw. Our team also drew with Mount Roskill and beat Avondale College and Kings College, all of which were seeded top 6. In addition, at least three of these sides had titled players on top board, with Auckland Grammar having two titled players. Our team also beat Bethlehem College and Otago Boys' High School. Congratulations once again to the team and thanks and congratulations to our Teacher in Charge of Chess, Mr Graham Nolan, for all of his support for our Chess team.
