HBHS Clay Target Shooting Team make history in their code

The HBHS Clay Target teams attended the Tauranga Provincial Circuit competition yesterday along with 15 other school teams.  The team represented the school well and set a new team record in shooting, winning their 4th provincial event this year, beating a previous HBHS best-season record of 3 events and remaining unbeaten in the circuit thus far.  The team won both team events for the day, taking out the Tauranga Aggregate Trophy for the overall total combined scores which HBHS has never won.  They also won the Teams Point Score Trophy which they have come close to on two previous occasions having been the runners up in 2019 and 2018.  This trophy hasn't been won by HBHS since 2010, breaking an ten-year drought.  Team Captain Andrew Wilson (Year 13) won the individual event for the day after having to shoot an additional 88 target before his opponent missed their target in a nail-biting sudden-death single barrel shoot off.  Jed Pirrit (Year 13) won the Senior Category event and Jack Godden (Year 10) was second in the Junior category.  The teams are looking forward to the South Island and New Zealand Championships at the end of the month and the North Island and Super 8 competition in the October holidays.
