HBHS contests Ieremia Trophy

NZ HBHS Golf TeamThe school golf team finally got back out on the course after a COVID-19 break that stretched back to March.  We played our annual St Peter's School Golf exchange to compete for the Ieremia Trophy named after Denzel Ieremia who has turned professional after attending HBHS and being coached at St Peter's.  St Peter's School Cambridge dominated and reclaimed the trophy and have a strong side heading into the New Zealand Secondary School Golf Nationals next week at Ngaruawahia Golf Course.  Today's event was a chance for our top five golfers to play for a spot in the three person team for Nationals.  Golf Captain Oliver Leen (Year 13) was the best with a 78 followed closely by our current leader in the race to become Senior Champion in 2020, Jakob Bird (Year 11), with a 79.  The third spot was taken by Anthony East (Year 13) who struggled with the windy, wet and pretty average greens, but held on by one shot.
