Overseas students are welcome to apply for a place in the school throughout the year. Students should be academically successful and of good character. Tuition fees for 2011 are set at NZ$12,400 per annum plus a $500 administration fee. Uniform / stationery requirements are $700 and a medical / travel insurance policy (1 year) $500. International students are accommodated either with a suitable family in a homestay arrangement ($210 per week for full board), or at the school hostel ($9,600 + $1,150 holiday Homestay fees). In addition students will need to pay for airfares, examination fees, sports fees and personal spending. The Dean of international students is the link between school, the student and his home. Hamilton Boys' High School is a signatory to the Ministry of Education's "Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students."

If you are considering submitting an application, the following information will be required:

  • A copy of the student's passport
  • A copy of his most recent report
  • A letter of recommendation from his current school
  • A letter written by the student (in English) stating his interests, achievements and career plans.
  • A current medical certificate
