Library

Opening Hours:

The library is open from 8am - 4pm each school day. Monday, Wednesday and Friday intervals and lunchtimes are for Year 11 and 12 students. Tuesday and Thursday intervals and lunchtimes are for Year 9 and 10 students. Our Year 13 students are able to access the library as they wish.

During class time subject teachers book their classes in when required. All Year 9 and 10 English classes are rostered to use the library on a fortnightly basis. At the commencement of the year, our Year 9 students are given a library orientation and shown how to use OPAC (on-line public access catalogue) and how to access on-line information.

Services:

Our library has approximately 17,000 books available for loan and, on behalf of the core subjects, 20,000 texts books are available to be issued. We also offer an impressive range of magazines, including the most popular titles, catering for the needs of our students and staff.

The students are able to access the internet, their own pupil files, INNZ (Index New Zealand), EPIC (Electronic products in collaboration) and CD Rom during class time. The library boasts 17 new, flat screen computers and two large work stations.

Newspaper and magazine articles of interest to the students are added to our vertical file on a daily basis.

Students also make use of the library for photocopying purposes and laminating, the cost placed on their student ID cards.

Staff:

Our Library Manager, Virginia Burt, Library Assistants Lyn Hearnden, and Lynette Spitzer (Text Books) and our Teacher with Library Responsibility, Toni Koning are available to help students and staff.
