A message from the Academic Committee

Kia Ora All,

Welcome to the fourth week of online learning. We hope that you are all staying well and keeping up to date with all of your school work.

Please remember that you can post any of your schoolwork related questions on the HBHS Homework Help Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/897582520668129) where one of us will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible.

Below is another list of tips that might help you keep focused on your work as the weeks of self-study progress:

  • Don’t do too much of one subject at a time. It is very easy to become frustrated if you spend too much time doing the same subject. Break up your day into multiple subjects to make sure you don’t become bored and procrastinate!
  • Don’t become disheartened if you fall behind. It can be very hard to keep on studying if you feel that you are behind, but don’t let this get to you. Simply take a deep breath, perhaps get up from your desk for a few minutes, and then come back to your work with a clearer headspace.
  • Remember that you are not alone during this. Students all across New Zealand are in the same shoes as you. Try not to worry about what is coming later in the year, just focus on doing your best in these difficult circumstances. Schools understand that times are tough and they will adjust accordingly.

Study hard and keep up the good work that you are all doing.

Kia Kaha,
The Academic Committee
