HBHS Career News

Dear Parents/Caregivers
An email has just been sent out to the school emails of all year 13 students with information that will be useful for their future pathways.  All boys have access to a web based programme called Careers Central. The short cut to Careers Central is found on the boys' HBHS home/landing page. Access is gained by using their school login and password. Each student has their own home page and I have added useful resources to the resource tab.
Please ensure that the boys do check as there is important information regarding University Scholarships, University information, Trades/Apprenticeships, Overseas Universities. This may be useful for Year 11 and Year 12 students as well.
We also have a Hamilton Boys' High School careers Facebook page which has lots of information, including jobs, events, etc. Many of the Universities will be holding virtual information presentations and virtual open days on line. Students need to register for these here - HBHS Facebook page
Virtual Careers Expo
We have unfortunately had to cancel our HBHS Careers Expo that was to be held on June 25th. However, the virtual careers expo (details below) will be a fantastic opportunity for students and families to gain important information which may help with subject choices and career options.

Over 40 tertiary education providers are confirmed for this event including all eight New Zealand Universities, plus a wide range of polytechnics, Wananga and private tertiary providers.

Attendees will enter into a virtual ‘exhibition hall’ and can browse through the participating providers, visiting their virtual stands and engaging in live chats with representatives from each institution.

Explore - Wander through our virtual expo hall featuring top providers and institutions from across NZ

Discover - Visit the Webcast Hub to watch seminars and feature from exhibitors

Engage - Chat with staff to find out more about each institution

Just like at a real-life Career Expo, students will have the opportunity to attend scheduled presentations. Each provider will host a 20-minute webinar session, where attendees can participate in a live Q&A.

This initiative set up by Media Design School has been provided at no cost to the exhibiting education providers or prospective students.

Each attendee will need to register individually to access the event. I also have attached an email header if you would like to use this in your communications about the expo. Attendees can log in to the expo at any time during the opening hours. A timetable of the webcast will be available, next week on the registration page.
