Study Skills Programme
We have been offered an amazing Study Skills Programme from Brenton Bai, who created Study Skills to help elite athletes in the High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) system gain the necessary skills for their academic pathways. This programme, however, is applicable to all students Yr 9 – Yr 13.
For the small price of only $9 (RRP $230), students at Hamilton Boys’ High School will gain 12 months access to this online package, which has helped HPSNZ athletes with their academic programmes. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain valuable knowledge in study habits, note taking, speed reading and improving memory techniques. Students will have full access to over 70 instructional videos and downloadable PDF files to help them in their quest for academic success.
Please see the attached flyer and take the time to search the webpage to preview the contents. Follow the instructions located at the bottom of the flyer to purchase the licence.

Netsafe adivce to schools & parents regarding Christchurch attacks
Netsafe advice to schools & parents regarding Christchurch attacks
Dear Parents & Caregivers
The following important message relating to the Christchurch attacks has been sent to us by the Ministry of Education. We ask that you please read the message and follow the advice provided by Netsafe and the Ministry. The school is supporting students in accordance with this advice.
"Netsafe has received a number of reports of online content relating to the attacks in Christchurch.
Footage of the attacks has been deemed objectionable under New Zealand law which means that possessing or distributing the footage is an offence.
Anyone who finds footage of the attacks online should report it to Netsafe at netsafe.org.nz/report but they should not keep copies or share it.
The footage of the Christchurch attacks is disturbing and will be harmful for people to see. If students have viewed the video and are struggling with what they have seen it’s likely they will require additional support. Agencies which can provide free support include Youthline, Need to Talk and Kidsline.
While the content is online there is some risk that children or young people may come across it. Netsafe encourages schools and parents to proactively discuss with young people what they should do if they come across distressing content online. Further information is available at netsafe.org.nz/upsetting-content
If parents or schools have questions relating to this incident or other distressing online content they can contact Netsafe for free and confidential advice at netsafe.org.nz or call 0508 NETSAFE."
