BP Business Challenge
34 HBHS students, alongside 52 Waikato Diocesan Girls students, took part in the 3 Day #BPBusinessChallenge run by the Young Enterprise Trust. The purpose of the 3 days is to get students thinking about what it's like to be an entrepreneur and to practise key skills such as communication, innovation, teamwork, resilience, leadership, organisation, time management, and most importantly making the most of every opportunity. It was a fantastic 3 days, and the students came up with some amazing ideas to solve problems faced by today's consumers. The winning business idea was Diabetes Designs - they created a ring and watch combination to help monitor blood sugar levels and inject insulin in a discrete way to reduce the embarrassment felt by young people about having this disease.
A huge thank you to the judges for giving their time to listen to and mentor the groups. Kevin Palmer (Calder and Lawson), Kowhai Poroa (Zenith Business Solutions), Lucy Ryan (Centre Place Manager), Nick McDonald (Likeable Lab), Daniel Andonov (Andonov Agency), David Bennett, and Jacqueline Rowarth.
