Results Round Up
There were a few HBHS teams in action over the weekend and at the end of last week. First up, our Senior Premier Debating team lost to St Peter's Cambridge, but both our Senior Open team and Novice Debating team were successful. Year 9 student Weiyi Jiang was named as Best Speaker in the Novice Competition, and Teacher in Charge of Debating, Mr Aaron Kearney, was recognised for his efforts, winning the inaugural award for being the most dedicated teacher. The Senior Premier Basketball team started their weekend of competition off on Friday night, beating Te Aroha College 104 - 64, and were then joined by our Junior team in tournament action over the weekend against Rotorua Boys' High School and New Plymouth Boys' High School. The Juniors won both matches comfortably, whereas the Senior team had a narrow loss to New Plymouth, but were well beaten by Rotorua. The HBHS Colts Rugby team had an excellent 48 - 31 win over the Marist Club Under 21 side, and with this win are now through to the semi-finals of the Waikato Under 21 Club Rugby Championships. The HBHS 1st XI Hockey team beat Hillcrest High School 1 - 0 and in a result for the ages, last Thursday night, the HBHS 2nd XI Football team beat the 1st XI 3 - 2. All we can say to that is well done, HBHS!
