Tana Clapham wins New Zealand Under 18 Surf Championships

Year 13 student Tana Clapham is the New Zealand Under 18 Mens Surfing Champion, after a dominant performance in Raglan earlier this week.  He was joined by Sam Potter (Year 13) and Brylie Adams (Year 13), and the team competed against 170 students from 30 schools, mainly from the North Island.  Brylie finished fourth in his heat, Sam finished third, and Tana powered through his heats and through the semi-finals and final on Wednesday, at Ruapuke Beach.

These results were good enough to have our school finish in fifth place overall, behind traditionally strong surfing schools, such as Whangamata Area School and Mount Maunganui College.  Congratulations to our surf team on their efforts, and thanks and congratulations to Mr Jeff Harnish for his support of our HBHS surfers.  Tino pai!
