We would like to offer an opportunity for International students to apply to attend one of New Zealand’s most prestigious rugby schools. This opportunity would include an involvement in the school’s extremely successful rugby programme and in the International Rugby Programme (I.R.P.) class.

Hamilton Boy’s High School is arguably the most successful rugby school in New Zealand. Hamilton Boy’s High School 1st XV Rugby team has qualified for the National Top 4 Finals Tournament nine times in the past 11 seasons, the greatest attendance of any school in the country. From those nine play offs, the 1st XV have been crowned National Champions four times.

In recent years the school’s 1st XV rugby team’s success has included:

  • Winners of the Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament 2010, 2011, 2014 & 2023
  • Winners of the Thailand World Schools Tournament 2022
  • Winners of 5 National New Zealand Secondary School titles 2008, 2009, 2013 & 2014, 2022
  • Winner of the Super 8 Championships in 14 of the last 16 seasons
  • Winner of the National Condor 7’s Tournament 2006, 2008, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020, 2022

Programme Entry

This unique opportunity will allow students to develop their ability and skill in rugby and take part in our rugby programme that would provide:

  • Individual fitness and conditioning training sessions with access to the school’s modern fitness centre
  • Integration into a school rugby team at the student’s appropriate level
  • Training and playing with an appropriate school team

To be selected for this programme a student must be:

  • An enthusiastic rugby player
  • A hard working and well behaved academic student
  • Aged between 14 and 18 (in the year of enrolment into the programme).
  • Able to cover financial costs of joining the school as an International Fee Paying student, including the costs of the International Rugby Programme
